How can you tell if you are experiencing Postpartum Depression or just the normal baby blues? The baby blues affect 60 – 80% of new mothers. Baby blues are so common due to the fluctuation of hormones that happen quite rapidly after birth coupled with acute sleep deprivation. Baby blues last between 2 days and 2 weeks after birth. If you have developed blues like symptoms before giving birth or they continue past two weeks after your baby is born you may want to consider talking to your doctor. You can bring any of your concerns up to your general practitioner, your obstetrician and even your baby’s pediatrician. They are all qualified to help you. You can also use my contact form to contact me if you are worried in any way and there are free articles on this site to help educate you on this important subject.
